Linking Arms: Why Great Leaders Invite Others to the Table

One of my favorite parts of being an executive and leadership coach—and a leadership practitioner—is seeing the spark that happens when individuals and teams begin to unlock momentum. It’s not just about achieving goals; it’s about discovering new energy, building stronger connections, and creating a ripple effect of impact that reaches far beyond the office.
I’ve had the privilege of partnering with leaders in many different ways. Sometimes it’s facilitating a webinar on how to regain control of your calendar. Other times it’s delivering a workshop on elevating emotional intelligence for success or guiding a team through strategic planning to bring innovation and revitalization to their organization. No matter the format, I never take for granted the trust that leaders place in me to walk alongside them—through the tough moments and through the big celebrations.
The Misconception of “Going It Alone”
Many leaders wrestle with the idea of inviting others in to help sharpen their skills or improve communication. It can feel like admitting weakness or confessing we don’t have all the answers. But the reality is quite the opposite.
When leaders link arms with others, they demonstrate courage and capacity. They show their teams what it looks like to embrace growth, to allow different voices at the table, and to be open to new perspectives. That willingness doesn’t diminish their authority; it amplifies their influence. It signals that the leader is strong enough to challenge “the way we’ve always done it” in pursuit of something better.
Where Are You Today?
Maybe you’re new in your leadership role and eager to set a strong foundation. Or perhaps you’ve been in leadership for years and are sensing that your team is losing some of its energy and momentum. Maybe your team is thriving, but you’d love to check in, refresh, and see how much further you could go together.
Wherever you are, know this: leadership isn’t meant to be a solo journey. Growth comes when we create space for collaboration, accountability, and fresh perspective.
An Invitation
If you’re ready to breathe fresh life into your leadership or your team, I’d love to hear your story. Whether you’re navigating challenges or pursuing big dreams, I’d be honored to explore how we might partner together.
